Sisters

The Princess Sisters

Princess Number One

Princess Number Two

The girls went to town to "trick or treat" tonight. They came home with a grocery bag full of candy.

Mickey the Kitty

Our kitty used one of her "9" lives today. Bob called lastnight and said he could hear a cat in the feed wagon, well we looked in the feed wagon and nothing. Later in the day Doug found her in the grinder mixer in the shed, we just were looking in the wrong place. So, Doug hooked the tractor up to the mixer and pulled it out. Mickey was stuck in a 6" tube with an elbow. It has a fluted top that gets bigger. Doug and Cassidy tried to get her to grab an old sheet I gave them, but they couldn't get her. When I got there they were both headed to the shop to get tools to take the mixer apart. I started talking to her and she was all but screaming back, so I decided to climb up on top with the flashlight and have a look. When I shined the light in and called "kitty, kitty" she would jump up enough that I could see her paws. By this time Doug and Cassidy came back and they threw me up the sheet and I ripped it into a strip and tied a knot in the end and I run it down the tube. Mick grabbed the sheet and I pulled her out. She was one happy kitty. She came to the house for a bowl of cream and cat food. We have no idea how long she was down there, she comes and goes, so we don't pay much attention.

Grandma JoAnn

Grandma Jo is Doug's mom and she turned 73 yesterday. We are taking her out for supper tonight at the local steakhouse. She is a resident at the nursing home and she really enjoys a meal that not hospital food. Hannah made her a birthday card and she is really excited about taking it to her. Yesterday they had a birthday party for her at the nursing home and Selma (Doug's sil) made her a cake, thanks Selma.

Taking the heifers to fresh pasture.

Doug moved the heifers from the school section to the missle base pasture last week. Here the "girls" are getting one last drink before they head out. There they go, you can see our place in the background where the trees are. He brought them through the yard and down the road to fresh pasture.

Oats

Here is Hannah and Doug measuring the oats.We got a good crop this year and Doug has been busy hauling all the hay we got this summer. What a little rain won't do, I think Doug thought that I didn't believed him that it
actually does rain out here. Seven years later it did rain and it meant it. It was a beautiful year, green most of the summer, and cool till August. Life is good.

It Rained It Poured

Mom and Dad's 40th Wedding Anniversary

My Mom and Dad will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on October 12th. Mom made me swear that we will not have a party. She is such a party pooper, ha. She instead told us we could have a party when they were married for 60 years, (an Ensure party) funny.

Thorson Hereford Ranch

Welcome to our little piece of heaven on earth, life on a ranch can be tough, but we wouldn't have it any other way.
He was just a little boy,
On a week's first day.
Wandering home from Bible school,
And dawdling on the way.

He scuffed his shoes into the grass;
He even found a catapillar.
He found a fluffly milkweed pod,
And blew out all the 'filler.'

A bird's nest in a tree overhead,
So wisely placed up so high.
Was just another wonder,
That caught his eager eye.

A neighbor watched his zig zag course,
And hailed him from the lawn;
Asked him where he'd been that day
And what was going on.

'I've been to Bible School,'
He said and turned a piece of sod.
He picked up a wiggly worm replying,
'I've learned a lot about God.'

'M'm very fine way,' the neighbor said,
'for a boy to spend his time.'
'If you'll tell me where God is,
I'll give give a brand new dime.'

Quick as a flash the answer came!
Nor were his accents faint.
'I'll give you a dollar, Mister,
If you can tell me where God ain't.'
